I was admitted in 1976 and have always been a General Practitioner.
However, my emphasis in recent years has shifted from criminal and
family law towards general litigation and company commercial work.
I have an interest in international economic law and European law
and I am a member of the University of Birmingham Institute of European
Law.
In the future, I would like to develop a collaborative role in the
delivery of legal services. In the past I have been involved with
company and share acquisitions which have involved many professionals.
Generally no one is in overall control of such situations. There
is in these situations a role for a coordinator conversant with the
needs of the various professionals and able to liaise and coordinate
them effectively.
In the area of general litigation, I consider that there is an opportunity
to deliver legal services in a modular fashion. Many clients are
quite capable of carrying out the more routine work on their files
and need only the services of a solicitor for the more specialist
work to develop and carry through the strategy for responding to
the litigation.
